Description If you're an experienced accountant with a keen eye for accuracy, there's an exciting opportunity through Robert Half for you to check out at a firm in the Non-Profit industry. The responsibilities of a Staff Accountant entail preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. When it's time for the monthly close, you'll be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting. You will also participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and look over schedules for the reporting processes. This position involves a good deal of time spent on producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This multi-faceted, challenging long-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity is at a Azusa, California based company where effort is rewarded and the environment is thriving.

What you get to do every single day

• Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

• Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

• Take part the in implementation and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP

• Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

• Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

• Take part in various department-wide initiatives

• Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management

• Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner

• Organize capital lease and monthly payment schedules

• Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision Requirements - Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills

• 3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

• Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines

• Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

• BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

• Command of Prepaid Expense

• Fixed assets experience

• Experience with Financial Statement

• Foundational knowledge in month end closings

• Deep understanding of accruals

• Be detailed, flexible, and organized

• Notable analytical, quantitative and social skills

• Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment

• Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision

• Competent with spreadsheets and databases

• Skilled with ERP systems
