Position Overview: Staff Engineer, responsible for supporting construction materials testing and geotechnical engineering projects with durations between one month and two years. Works with multi-disciplinary construction teams to solve problems in the construction of highways, airports, buildings, bridges, landfills, pipelines, dams, and levees. Responsibilities include reviewing and submitting test reports, scheduling technicians, performing periodic site inspections, coordinating with clients, attending progress meetings, supervising technicians, performing engineering calculations, writing technical reports, and reviewing project deliverables. This position has the ability to be hybrid and work out the following offices: Akron, OH; Farmington Hills, MI Other responsibilities include: * Analyzes project-specific data and develops appropriate conclusions * Alerts project personnel when problems or non-conforming test results are observed. * Prepares materials for project proposals. * Participates in health and safety plan development. * Demonstrates consistent/exemplary safety compliance. * Performs field, office, and computer-aided studies/testing and prepares reports. * Depending on qualifications and performance, successful candidates may also be expected to supervise small tasks of moderate complexity, direct the work of technicians, and prepare specialized technical reports. Qualifications include: * 0 to 4 years of experience in civil engineering. * Construction materials testing or geotechnical engineering experience preferred. * Expected to be eligible for professional licensure within 4 years of hire. * Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. * Post-graduate degrees or studies desirable. * Knowledge of geotechnical engineering practices. * Knowledge of construction material testing practices. * Organization, written communication, and oral communication skills. * Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office. * Must be able to work constructively in diverse teams including engineers, technicians, and non-technical personnel. Additional Requirements: CTI is a Drug-Free Workplace - Must pass pre-hire drug screen. Must possess valid driver's license. Must be able to physically navigate construction sites.
