Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours (Exempt)

Starting Salary DOE: $56,076 - $97,344

Depending on experience and education, candidates may qualify for Level I-IV System Administrator

This position serves as part of a team that supports the server and application infrastructure for the Billings Clinic health system. Responsibilities for this position include providing support, optimization, maintenance, strategy and design of the on premises and cloud infrastructure in order to facilitate and enhance the delivery of health care services in Billings Clinic and its regional partners.

This role is responsible for providing day-to-day support, maintenance and implementation of existing infrastructure as well as participation in guidance, planning and execution of improvements and future strategy. In addition to the technical knowledge/skills required to support the service infrastructure, other responsibilities include good documentation, complying with change control, and effective task management. Effective coordination, communication and interaction with other teams/departments, vendors and facilities in the health system is expected. This is a highly dynamic environment requiring members of this team to respond to the often-changing needs of the organization while maintaining a high level of uptime, service quality and redundancy

Essential Job Functions

• CORE VALUES:

• KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serves as the primary technology resource for the assessment and mapping of current and future state with gap identification/analysis, design, implementation, on-going development and maintenance of server/cloud infrastructure. Coordinates closely with Billings Clinic Leadership, staff members, Information Technology staff, key stakeholders including affiliates, managed and non-managed sites, and software vendors for the planning, analysis, design, implementation, evaluation and support of network infrastructure.

• STRATEGY:

Acts as a liaison and expert resource for network infrastructure with the end-user community, clinicians and/or software/hardware vendor to identify problems and concerns regarding the overall performance and/or effectiveness of the technologies and workflows that impact users. Researches, analyzes and provides recommendations for corrective action to resolve problems with the internal functionality of the system and/or integration of information between systems. Collaborates with clients and technical resources and/or software/hardware vendor with recommendations for system enhancements, detailed information regarding technical or functionality problems and assists with implementation of recommended fixes.

• PATIENT SAFETY and QUALITY:

Monitors the environment, technology and infrastructure to support optimal patient care and prevention of adverse events.

• POLICY and PROCEDURE / REGULATORY:

Ensures network infrastructure and corresponding policies and procedures, related to Health IT, follow appropriate Practice Acts, Joint Commission requirements and other applicable regulations and standards.

• OTHER DUTIES:

Performs additional duties as defined for specific IT Systems Administrator Role. See table below. Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

• Working within a team, develop strategies, designs and plans for enhancing the technology services infrastructure within the Billings Clinic Health System

• Provide monitoring, evaluation and support for the server and services infrastructure.

• In coordination with other teams, successfully implement new projects as determined by Billings Clinic

• Perform maintenance on all aspects of the technology infrastructure as needed

• Serve as an escalation point for complex support issues

• Provide excellent customer service, to end users and team members

• Implementation of industry/vendor best practices in project, maintenance, and support work

• Prioritization of issues/projects based on risk, impact and organizational criticality

• Work with cybersecurity team to verify that configurations are compliant with institutional standards

• Work within change control guidelines/processes developed by Billings Clinic

• Create appropriate documentation for all new deployments and changes to the infrastructure

• Effective, regular and timely communication with all stakeholders of issues and projects

• Experience/training in supporting, implementing, and maintaining a number of the following enterprise technologies:

Windows network services (e.g. AD, group policy, DNS, DHCP, Radius, Certificate Authorities, etc.)

Microsoft 365 / Azure AD

OS Virtualization

Configuration, management and troubleshooting of backup/replication technologies

Enterprise storage

Server Hardware and Operating systems

Monitoring and patching solutions

Basic MS SQL Server administration

Basic web site manipulation

• Strong organizational, analytical, planning and support skills

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment to identify and remediate issues, implement enhancements/projects, and perform required maintenance

• Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking principles

• Flexibility when faced with shifting priorities and multiple tasks

• Basic understanding of IT service management frameworks, including incident and change management

• Good written and verbal communication skills, including writing of technical documentation

• An understanding of current technology trends as they relate to the health care industry

• Provide training to others (members of IT Department, new employees, end users, etc.) as necessary

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• 4 Year / Bachelors Degree preferred or equivalent experience

Experience

• 0-8 years’ experience (depending on Level) with enterprise technical infrastructure/ architecture and support services

Certifications and Licenses

• Current Montana driver’s license and the ability to be insured to operate Billings Clinic vehicles

• Relevant technical certifications preferred.

Able to provide home internet access and have personal cell phone.

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered. Employees that require a licensed or certification must be properly licensed/certified and the licensure/certification must be in good standing.
