SCL Health Patient Access Supervisor in Billings, Montana

Job Description:

The Patient Account Services (PAS) Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day operations of the patient access department This role is responsible for implementing comprehensive quality management programs that comply with standard operating procedures and the regulations of certifying, licensing, and accrediting agencies.

ScopeAs a Patient Access Supervisor, you need to know how to:


Oversee day-to-day registration operations.
Maintain and monitor the schedules daily to ensure appropriate coverage for areas of responsibility.
Define clear roles and responsibilities for staff instilling accountability. Be responsible for meeting quality and POS financial goals.
Develop and maintain written procedures and policies to guide clarify and support staff in their individual roles.
Monitor, organize, and delegate the teams workload.
Work with Patient Access trainers and employees to set goals for employee performance and growth.
Coach and provide training for staff and direct employees toward established department goals.
Conduct interviews, orient, train, counsel, mentor, discipline and evaluate all staff members.
Adjust organization structure and process to meet anticipated or identified business challenges.
Conduct random sampling monthly of patients accounts to verify all registration policies and procedures are being consistently utilized and applied.
Establish benchmarks for staff performance and audits staff registration functions.
Monitor accuracy, volume and productivity to ensure timely and accurate information and reports it monthly.
Demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology and heath care benefits plans including Medicare, Medicaid, and other third party payers.
Maintain a strong relationship with Utilization Review on Bed control functions to ensure process accuracy.
Ensure compliance with federal regulations, including HIPAA, JCAHO, Medicare and other third-party.
.Minimum Qualifications- Associates Degree or a minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience, required

- Bachelors Degree or a minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience, preferred- Current Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) certification, preferred

Physical RequirementsOngoing need for employee to see and read information, documents, assess patient needs, operate monitors and computers, identify equipment and supplies.Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$22.05 - $36.50
