Employment Status: Full-Time (.75 or greater)

Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours (Exempt)

Starting Wage DOE: $29.72 - 34.93

Responsible for applying in-depth knowledge, competencies, and skills in a clinical specialty. Assesses,plans, researches, develops, conducts, and evaluates services and continuing education programs incollaboration with management. Expertise is utilized in all settings for the organization. Establishes goalsand priorities in accordance with patient care, staff needs and organizational objectives and in accordancewith age appropriate care criteria for services ranging from infant to geriatric.

Essential Job Functions

• Develops educational programs and collaborates with other health care providers to assure appropriateness of educational offerings for staff members and patients; maintenance of continuity of care; coordination of resources to facilitate patient’s plan of care; and may provide direct and/or indirect patient care.

• Serves as a resource and role model in implementation of professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.

• Facilitates empowered environment that recognizes and responds to staff’s developmental and professional practice issues through mentoring, team building, resource identification and networking.

• Participates in the development or revision of policies and procedures and incorporates current research findings.

• Demonstrates positive, supportive, and caring behaviors in communication with patients, families, visitors, physicians, staff and others.

• Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve quality.

• Helps coordinate trauma care management utilizing effective communication across the continuum of trauma care, including helping develop clinical protocols/practice management guidelines, monitoring care of in-hospital patients, serving as a resource for clinical practice, and discharge planning.

• Identifies multidisciplinary opportunities for improvement in a timely manner and assists team members with problem resolution through plan development, implementation and evaluation

• Provides and supports trauma education for Billings Clinic staff and assists in inter-facility and regional staff development. Participates in case review, Trauma M&M, Trauma Committee, Trauma Case conference, ERTAC and STCC.

• Teaches and facilitates EMS run review, Stop the Bleed, ENPC, TNCC, TEAM courses, ATLS, and hospital and regional/state trauma education

• In collaboration with the Trauma Registrar, maintains the trauma registry for the purpose of performance improvement by measuring and evaluating plans to improve both the processes of care and the outcome.

• Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

COMPLEXITY & DIFFICULTY:

• Serves as a resource for patient care. Accountable to provide clinically sound information. Must develop and maintain good working relationships with other departments, physicians, patients, families, outside agencies, and other professionals.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing required but application may be considered if currently enrolled in a BSN program with a defined date of completion within 18 months of application.

• Current Montana and/or Wyoming license as a Registered Nurse

• Five years of experience in area of expertise

• Teaching experience, preferred

• Healthcare Provider CPR certification required,

• Current in ENPC

• Current in TNCC

• Current in ACLS

• Ability to pass TCRN certification within the first 2 years of hire

• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered
