Responsibilities

Ascension St. Vincent's in Birmingham is looking for a Board-certified/Board-eligible Gastroenterologist to work as a Full-time GI Hospitalist within Ascension Medical Group.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills.

  • Recommends, participates in, and works to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.

  • Accepts patient referrals from other physicians. Acts as attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital.

  • Provides appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.

  • Full spectrum general adult gastroenterology (18 & older)

  • ERCP and EUS training is ideal, not required

Requirements

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Licensed Graduate Doctoral Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

  • Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) preferred.

Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Optometry (OD) or Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) required.
