Patient Service Representative; 8-hour shifts, 8:30a-5:00p; Mon & Fri; may require coverage in 2 locations

Job Description:

Essential Functions

  • Provide medical and surgical office front desk support to Surgical practice

  • Greet patients, collect co-pays, answer telephones, schedule patient appointments and testing, ensure necessary referrals are in place, verify and update patient demographics into electronic health record.

  • Escort patient to exam room for provider during clinic

  • Schedule appointments, ancillary testing and surgery

  • Request prior authorizations for medical procedures/diagnostic exams and surgery.

  • Refer medical questions to appropriate sources (Physician, Manager, or Director. Prepare end of day cash/copay reports.

  • Submit billing to our billing vendor with appropriate supporting documentation

  • Respond to billing companies requests for documentation or clarification of charges.

  • Participate in special projects as identified by the Physician, Manager or Director

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Proficiency with computers and medical terminology preferred
