Case Western Reserve University Manager of Clinical Experience & Community Partnerships in Cleveland, Ohio

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Manager of Clinical Experience and Community Partnerships is a critical leadership position within the Physician Assistant Program at Case Western Reserve University. The manager will be responsible for providing support for the 12-month clinical curriculum for the physician assistant program. The manager will work closely with the faculty in these roles: director of clinical curriculum, clinical coordinator, and coordinator of experiential learning and community service. This role demands a strategic approach to developing, managing, and enhancing clinical experiences and community partnerships integral to the program. The manager is responsible for navigating the complexities of healthcare environments and maintaining robust, mutually beneficial relationships with a wide array of community healthcare partners. In this high-stakes role, the manager must adeptly balance the program's educational objectives with the dynamic needs of clinical sites and the evolving healthcare landscape. The role demands a high level of problem-solving skills, adaptability, and the ability to foresee and mitigate risks that could impact the program's reputation, student learning outcomes, and partnerships.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Pre-clinical and clinical rotations: Oversee and manage pre-clinical and clinical rotation schedules for physician assistant students, ensuring quality and diversity in clinical experiences. Liaise with the registrar, clinical sites, and preceptors and resolve any issues that arise during rotations. Manage the coordination of clinical rotation exams, enrollment management, and graduation requirements. (25%)
  2. Affiliation agreements, onboarding, and credentialing: Ensure compliance with accreditation standards related to clinical experiences and community partnerships. Develop affiliation agreements, licensing verifications, faculty appointments, clinical year onboarding, and credentialing requirements. (20%)
  3. Preceptor and community partnerships management: Engage in high-level relationship management with preceptors and community healthcare partners. Formulate and execute strategies for the development of new partnerships and the strengthening of existing ones, with an emphasis on creating opportunities that align with cutting-edge clinical practices. Manage the risks inherent in partnership dynamics, ensuring that collaborations are robust, sustainable, and beneficial to all parties involved. (20%)
  4. Experiential learning and community service management: Lead the administrative aspects of experiential learning and community service, including memorandum of understanding agreements with clinical sites, student, and preceptor scheduling, and maintaining compliance with university standards. (10%)
  5. Administrative and strategic duties: Develop a strategic planning process for the clinical aspect of the program, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement and maintaining partnership agreements. Oversee continuing medical education activities. Proactively address potential risks in program operations, from accreditation compliance to student placement challenges. (10%)
  6. Communication and collaboration: Act as a principal liaison, fostering a culture of high-level communication and collaboration among students, faculty, preceptors, clinical sites, and community partners. Employ strategic communication to manage expectations and maintain strong relationships. Anticipate and address potential challenges in stakeholder interactions, ensuring the smooth operation of the clinical year and maintaining the integrity of the program. (10%)
