Arkansas PBS is looking for aGraphic Artist.Our Marketing & Outreach team is looking for a highly motivated, creative individual to work on behalf of the only statewide public broadcasting network. The successful candidate must have the ability to multi-task and work well in a creative, multi-discipline team environment. This position requires someone who can be the strategic creative lead for branding and graphic design agency wide; manage and oversee the Arkansas PBS Brand Guide; thoughtfully carry out graphic design and branding projects from concept to completion; work with internal clients to support graphic needs that best represent the product; accept other points of view and offer options to meet agency goals and vision; understand approval processes and meet deadlines; and understand the importance of adhering to PBS and partners’ brand guidelines. This job demands a positive and constructive view of working with others. There will be a high percentage of time spent listening to, understanding, and successfully working with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds to achieve “win-win” outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Concept and design, organize and set-up artwork for a variety of mediums including print, digital, broadcast, and other media such as websites, email, etc.

  • Manage creative design process from concept proofs to approvals to production (including print).

  • Work closely with marketing and engagement team to implement changes in a timely manner.

  • Manage multiple projects and tasks under tight timelines with urgency, prioritization and executing against deadlines.

  • Develop and create illustrations, motion graphics and other creative graphic content as needed.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Must have a valid driver's license.

    Minimum qualifications are the formal equivalent of a bachelor's degree in graphic arts, graphic design, visual arts, or a related field. Plus, one year of experience in advertising, printing, graphic design, social media content creation/design or related area. Preferred qualificationsare a solid knowledge of print production processes and digital media design, including social media and email marketing; strong Adobe Creative Cloud Suite skills; photography, video, and motion design abilities a plus.

    In addition, the candidate must provide links to a portfolio or sample work.

Summary

The Commercial Artist I/Graphic Artist I is responsible for designing and preparing art work and print material. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Functions

Receives requests for various art work and print materials, such as pamphlets, posters, charts, graphs, brochures, and reports. Creates rough design and layout using computer software and confers with requestor for approval. Collects and chooses images of multiple formats for viewing and scans or converts images to appropriate digital format. Proofs job for format, pastes up and lay outs materials, and produces copy or sends to printer. Converts artwork to specific printing and bindery requirements set by printing companies as needed. Reviews and approves final proofs. Orders and maintains art supplies and equipment, including computer and printer upkeep. Plans and executes camera-ready artwork and digital photography, as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of art and print layout and design techniques. Knowledge of computer software usage in graphic design and artwork. Knowledge of printing equipment. Ability to create design and layout using computer software upon request. Ability to prepare materials for printing. Ability to produce camera-ready artwork and digital photography.

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus two years of specialized training in commercial art, graphic design, or related field; plus one year of experience in advertising, printing, graphic design, or related area. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
