Medtronic’s Danvers, MA location has an exciting opportunity available for a Technician V in the Equipment Development & New Technologies Group. This position requires the ability to accomplish assignments with limited supervision. Some of these tasks include prototype machining, repair of broken tooling, light mold repair, welding, and fabrication to meet business needs. Secondary tasks include Mechanical Design, Machine Assembly, Equipment testing. This candidate will work in the Equipment Development & New Technologies Group, which supports the Danvers Shared Technology Center Goals and Mission, plus supports various equipment at our contract manufacturing facilities. This candidate will support the Danvers Technology Center of Excellence Charter.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned as business needs are dynamic.

· Machining and repairing broken tooling

· Repair of broken machine elements or reconstructing them

· Works with Engineering and Designers to make prototype items based on drawings and customer inputs

· Welding and fabrication of parts and components such as guards, machine elements and jigs/fixtures

· Provide inputs to designers on how to make components more efficiently

· Light Design work using Solidworks of components and small assemblies

· Machine assembly

· Machine testing

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience of relevant and may require vocational or technical education and advanced certification in addition to prior work experience

Nice to Have

· Machine Shop Experience Lathes, Manual Mills, CNC Mills, surface grinder

· G Code and Conversational Code experience

· Welding, Cutting, Silver Soldering experience (Oxy/Acetylene Torches, MIG, TIG, Plasma)

· Light Sheetmetal Fabrication, bending, cutting, forming (hand brake, shear, punches)

· Blueprint Reading Mastery

· Ability to work with precision tolerances +-.001”

· Solidworks experience

· Knowledge/Exposure to other Metal Processing Processes such as EDM (sinker and wire), laser cutting, laser welding, chemical machining)

· Heat treatment of AISI01, 4130, 4140 and 17-4 PH steels

· Electromechanical problem-solving skills

· Machine Design experience

· Electromechanical Design

· Excel, Word and Outlook experience

· Plastic Processing Machinery experience

· Additive Manufacturing experience
