Minimum Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience in project management and/or events management

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously

  • Professional experience with social media management

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Demonstrated empathy and the ability to connect with others

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, PR, non-profit management or similar field

  • Background in fundraising

  • Proficiency with Salesforce

Job Summary

The Gilly Project Program Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of social media, as well as event and initiative planning for the Gilly Project. The Gilly Project is a platform founded to raise awareness about neurofibromatosis (NF). NF affects nearly 1 in 2,500 people, including Dan and Jennifer Gilbert’s son, Nick. The Gilly Project was founded by Nick’s siblings to celebrate the life and legacy of Nick Gilbert, while also inspiring and supporting the next generation of NF advocates, patients and families.

Additionally, this position is part of the larger Gilbert Family Foundation Grants & Operations team, supporting the annual beNeFit fundraiser to raise money for NF Forward (https://nfforwarddetroit.org/) , a non-profit focused on developing cutting-edge research to accelerate a cure for NF. As a part of the Gilbert Family Foundation team, this position is expected to act as a professional, conscientious and attentive ambassador for the organization through all internal and external communications.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Gilbert Family Foundation team members, leaders and Gilbert family members to develop an annual strategic plan for the Gilly Project

  • Project manage key initiatives for the Gilly Project, such as trivia night at Gilly’s Detroit (https://www.gillysdetroit.com/) , Cav’s Bow Tie Night (https://www.nba.com/cavaliers/news/releases-bow-tie-night-240226) , a March Madness bracket challenge, Fantasy Football and more

  • Bring together appropriate partners – legal, creative, events management, finance, etc. – to support programming where needed

  • Manage the Gilly Project social media platforms to support storytelling around the life and legacy of Nick Gilbert and the overall mission of the Gilly Project

  • Communicate regularly to various stakeholders about updates, opportunities and needs related to the Gilly Project

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and execute a social media fundraising and awareness campaign similar to the “Ice Bucket Challenge"

  • Support planning and execution for beNeFit , the annual fundraiser for NF Forward

  • Provide ad hoc support for all technology platforms including donor database, grants management platform (Salesforce) and all integrating technologies to users of the platforms both internal and external

  • Support day-to-day pledging, billing and receipt of a $7 million annual donation revenue stream

  • Support all tax-related aspects of donor relations including thank you/donation acknowledgement letters and annual tax letters

  • Maintain donor relationships and other external grantee relationships

  • Responsible for sponsorship and event management including sponsor benefits, marketing material management, fundraising solicitation or technical support

  • Execute on projects and process changes as advised

  • Maintain a strong commitment to the Gilbert Family Foundation’s mission and values with the ability to demonstrate that commitment in daily interactions
