Job Description Summary

The Director of Graduate Medical Education Administration is responsible for managing the daily operations of the SAMC GME program. The Director of GME Administration works under the supervision of the Director of Medical Education/Designated Institutional Official (DME/DIO). The Director of GME Administration plays a key role in maintaining institutional standards through the Clinical Learning Environment Review process and the Annual Institutional Review process. The Director of GME Administration will undertake and assist with initiatives to improve GME processes and outcomes and to open new residency training programs.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor s degree in Business, Education, Administration or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Master’s degree preferred.

  • 4+ years progressively responsible experience in a health care system, hospital or other similar complex organization subject to intense external regulations.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities— Specific responsibilities of the Director of GME Administration include assisting the DME/DIO in the following essential functions:

    1.

Monitors and facilitates compliance by all residency programs with accreditation requirements; develops and/or implements dashboards and other tools needed to accomplish this task.

  1. Develops and maintains the institutional GME Policy and Procedure manual annually or as appropriate

  2. Manages activities of the GME Committee, including scheduling of meetings, development of agendas, and maintenance of minutes and other records.

Composes new policies and procedures as deemed necessary by the GME Committee.

    5.

Manages the distribution and collection of annual resident surveys. Compiles, analyzes and makes recommendations for improvement in resident education from data obtained, as well as ensuring residents’ confidentiality.

Acts as advocate and facilitator for resident complaints and concerns outside the program chain of command.

    7.

Coordinates resident due process hearings in accordance with established guidelines.

    8.

Coordinates Clinical Learning Environment Review (CLER) visits and other ACGME site visits as required for the maintenance of institutional and program accreditation.

    9.

Coordinates an Annual Institutional Review in collaboration with the GME Committee and the Subcommittee for Internal Review.

  1. Collaborates with the GME Committee in the planning and conduct of Special Reviews of residency programs as needed.

Oversees the management of computerized information systems (New Innovations, ERAS, NRMP, ACGME WebADS) related to collecting and storing GME data, generating management reports and documentation.

  1. Supervises and serves as educator and resource for Program Coordinators, including coaching in the effective use of computerized information systems as well as Excel and Powerpoint to monitor and communicate educational trends, benchmarks, and goals.

  2. Coordinates the development and maintenance of the GME website.
