Hiring CNC Machinists in Lafyette, IN!

Pay: $27.71/hour

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist for the Large Power Systems Division at our Lafayette, IN facility. Ideal candidates will possess a robust background in CNC (Lathe/Mill) Machining, with proficiency in multi-axis machining and the ability to input programming into FANUC, Siemens, Allen Bradley, or other similar controllers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Producing high-quality parts and ensuring quality control.

  • Maintaining a clean and orderly workspace.

  • Operating and setting up CNC and NC controlled machines, transporting materials, operating wash tanks, and performing some manual operations.

  • Interpreting CNC programs, job instruction sheets, CMM data, and gage tracking, while monitoring processes via Infinity.

  • Managing time effectively and collaborating within a team environment.

  • Using overhead cranes and other lifting devices to handle large parts.

  • Fabricating and modifying parts to make or repair machine tools.

  • Calculating dimensions and tolerances using mathematical and quality tools.

  • Setting up machines and monitoring the machining process.

  • Inspecting completed units to ensure conformity to specifications.

Hard Skills:

  • CNC Lathe and Mill Machining expertise.

  • Proficiency in machine setup and operation.

  • Experience with multi-axis CNC machining and CNC programming.

  • Knowledge of G&M codes and ability to make tool offsets and changes.

  • Understanding of machining principles, blueprint reading, and geometric tolerances.

  • Familiarity with quality data and lean manufacturing environments.

Work Environment:

  • Our facility is a temperature-controlled manufacturing environment, split between assembly and machine shop operations.

  • We prioritize a clean and safe workspace and maintain a relaxed dress code. Compliance with PPE standards, including steel/composite toe shoes, earplugs, and protective glasses, is mandatory.

Must Have:

  • Experience operating CNC Machines

  • Ability to perform independent setup

  • Ability to understand Start, Stop, and Recovering program language

  • Ability to independently perform tool changes

  • Ability to understand written standard work instructions and blueprints
