Cabinet Peaks Medical Center Physical Therapy Assistant, Full Time in Libby, Montana

Cabinet Peaks Medical Center is looking for a Physical Therapy Assistant to join our Rehabilitative Services Team!

The PTA provides physical therapy services to patients 0-100+ years of age under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist in accordance with the law. Administers treatments and physical agents per established plan of care in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability. Assists patients to obtain maximum performance and function in society while learning to live a routine “normal” life within the constraints of their disability. Participates in operational aspects of the department, maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in continuous quality improvement activities. Provides input in formulating budget, assists in evaluating department performance versus budget controls and takes appropriate action to remain in budget guidelines. Ensures that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis. Participates in all departmental training and safety programs as required.

Major Job Duties & Responsibilities

Performs patient treatments according to established therapy standards and department policies and procedures.

Demonstrates knowledge of physical therapy modalities.

Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized, and function under stressful situations in a positive and professional manner.

Demonstrates the ability to effectively supervise and delegate to PT Aides and PTA students to provide services in a competent and efficient manner.

Willing to instruct therapy aides, therapy students, new graduates, recently hired therapists and other staff members.

Completes necessary documentation according to policies and procedures.

Daily charting supports therapy units billed.

Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized, and function under stressful situations in a positive and professional manner.

Exhibits good work habits and efficient use of own and other’s time to be productive.

Meets deadlines and is on time for scheduled appointments and meetings.

Interacts professionally with patient/family and treats them with respect and dignity.

Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians/physical therapists and follows physician/PT orders, protocols and precautions.

Participates in projects within the department, the facility and the community to enhance rehabilitative services and promote growth.

Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.

Consults others as appropriate to collaborate in improving patient care and performance.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Ability to perform patient treatments according to established therapy standards and department policies and procedures.

Knowledge of physical therapy modalities.

Ability to effectively supervise and delegate to PT Aides and PTA students to provide services in a competent and efficient manner.

Must be able to function and excel in a team environment and relate positively and favorably to staff, patients, visitors, families, and physicians. Must possess effective communication and writing skills.

Must possess valid DL; may be required to travel to other hospital buildings, satellite clinic, patients’ homes or out of town to attend meetings/continuing education courses.

Must possess computer skills in order to use e-mail, Word, Excel, Power Point, internet, electronic medical records, etc.

Schedule: Eight (8) to ten (10) hour shifts. Rotating weekends, holidays, and other shifts as needed to provide coverage.

Educational Requirements: Current state physical therapist assistant licensure, Graduate of an approved Physical Therapist Assistant program, Current CPR certification

Experience: Preferred but not required
