The University of Minnesota Medical School operates as a 1 school, 3 campus model. The CentraCare Regional Campus is a four year campus in St. Cloud, MN with a specific emphasis on rural health, with nearly all clinical rotations to be completed within the CentraCare Health system. CentraCare Health is a ten-hospital system serving central and western Minnesota and has an academic affiliation with the University of Minnesota Medical School. The campus will matriculate its first students in the fall of 2025, with admissions opening in May 2024. The campus will welcome 24 students per class, and at maturity will have 96 total students by 2028. The University of Minnesota Medical School has notified the LCME of the additional regional campus and received no concerns. The Regional Campus Dean is responsible and accountable for the performance of the campus in fulfilling its site-specific missions: to be a leader in educating physicians with an emphasis on rural health and immigrant health; to serve the health care needs of rural Minnesota through focus on Family Medicine, OB/Gyn, Pediatrics, Behavioral Health, and General Surgery; and remain consistent with the high standards of the University of Minnesota in discovering and disseminating knowledge through research. The Regional Campus Dean, in conjunction with the Medical School Dean, will craft a vision for the excellence of the CentraCare Regional campus and growth in the research mission. This involves identifying, strategizing, and overseeing major changes and improvements in infrastructure necessary to sustain and grow the work of the campus and advance CentraCare campus accomplishments over time. It will also require aligning efforts and funding sources with the statewide U of M Medical School. The Regional Campus Dean will ensure compliance of the campus with LCME accreditation standards, a compliant learning environment and a rigorous curriculum. In addition, they will encourage and enhance the support for faculty, staff and student efforts in education, research, and scholarship, and advance efforts to increase diversity, equity and inclusion on the campus. Qualifications Required Qualifications A MD/DO, PhD or MD-PhD with a record of teaching and working with health professionals or medical students and/or successfully conducting research, experience or knowledge in primary care, rural health, and demonstrated ability to supervise multiple employees and manage teams. The selected candidate must also be eligible for, and subsequently hold, a faculty position at the University of Minnesota. Preferred Qualifications A candidate with experience in primary care and/or rural health with a care delivery partner, with a record of promoting diversity, and demonstrated success in obtaining federal funding for research is preferred. Administrative leadership experience within a medical school (Dean's Office or within a Department) is preferred. Individuals with a highly collaborative, inclusive, and effective leadership style, including demonstrated support for shared governance are sought. The candidate should have demonstrated ability and commitment to use data to problem-solve, and the ability to prioritize institutional goals across complex organizational relationships. Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and listening skills, are important with the ability to effectively work internal and external to the campus. The capacity to bring together constituent groups, demonstrate collaboration, and advance goals, as well as to navigate the potential changes in medical policy, healthcare politics, and healthcare delivery systems of the future, is needed. A successful record of fundraising will be invaluable.
