Tidelands Health Director of Philanthropy in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina

Under the supervision of the vice president of marketing and communications and in alignment with the annual philanthropy plan, the philanthropy director plans, implements, directs and evaluates a comprehensive philanthropy program for Tidelands Health. The director is responsible for all aspects of major gifts fundraising, including identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gifts of $10,000 or more from individuals, businesses and foundations. The director identifies, manages and solicits a defined portfolio of major prospective donors to meet program and campaign goals. In addition, the director leads the planning and implementation of philanthropy activities to maximize campaign support and overall philanthropic expansion. The philanthropy director regularly engages community volunteers, while also working collaboratively with other system functions, including producing regular financial reports with the finance team. Specific responsibilities include:

• Plans, implements, directs and evaluates a comprehensive philanthropy program for Tidelands Health.

• Develops both annual and campaign major gifts goals and strategies to maximize philanthropic funding.

• Identifies and manages relationships to solicit cash and pledges of $10,000 and more from individuals, businesses and foundations.

• Produces regular financial reports and collaborates with the Tidelands Health finance team to assure philanthropy and accounting best practices are followed.

• Monitors and reports on progress toward goals and program effectiveness.

• Analyzes donor and prospect information.

• Set and meets deadlines for closing the number and level of gifts needed to achieve or exceed philanthropy goals.

• Sets specific membership, dollar and retention goals for various giving levels and programs.

• Creates and continually builds upon a core list of prospective donors for Tidelands Health and rigorously follows up on leads.

• Using the principles of moves management, maintains a roster of major donors and major donor prospects that are contacted personally and on a regular basis.

• Identifies and develops potential naming opportunities throughout the system to support fundraising efforts.

• Manages volunteer involvement in philanthropic programs.

• Completes other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education : Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree and/or CFRE certification preferred.

Experience : Minimum seven years’ progressive fundraising experience, with an emphasis on major gift cultivation and closing.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities : Demonstrated experience in all aspects of philanthropy, including donor and prospect research, effective fundraising programs and accurate reporting, is required. A proven track record of developing and implementing comprehensive fund development strategies is essential, as is the ability to motivate fellow team members and volunteers. Must be an organized self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have experience using a donor database.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; frequently to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 15 to 20 pounds of force occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or 5 to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 5 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
