SUMMARY:

Leads Continuous Improvement (CI) activities of moderate scope and complexity to improve the efficiency of systems and processes in the division and/or with suppliers and customers. Seeks out and pilots new tools and demonstrates the successful application of new methodologies. Educates team members, suppliers, and customers about CI philosophies and Lean Enterprise methods.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Selects and/or customizes CI methods to effectively implement lean manufacturing for various production and business processes. May recommend changes to refine and enhance CI training and techniques.

Introduces and facilitates CI activities for projects with moderate scope and impact. Leads and guides or ad hoc teams in identifying waste and facilitates process evaluations to reduce production lead times, streamline defect analysis, improve material flow, and standardize operator work sequences for manufacturing and office applications.

Communicates and educates team members, suppliers, and customers about Parker's adopted lean manufacturing philosophies and assists them in applying those principles to their CI efforts.

Participates in CI planning, goal setting, and measurement. Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses based on knowledge of current and planned CI activities.

Stimulates CI thinking on teams by posing new process initiatives. Coordinates activities across teams and support functions to drive continuous improvement and sustained results. Project assignments include a variety of products and processes.

Works with supporting teams to verify supplier's progress with lean initiatives, sustained cost/price reduction, and sustained quality and delivery ratings. Implements appropriate procedures and measurements to evaluate supplier's initiatives and improvements.

Utilizes and interprets various production, throughput, and/or quality data analysis and statistical reports and selects or develops appropriate measures to estimate and evaluate the impact of CI initiatives.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reading publications, networking, and/or participating in professional associations.

Complies with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements (e.g. FAA, environmental, safety, etc.). Advises management on needed actions.

Shares functional and specialized knowledge with others. Represents company on specific projects. Prepares and conducts technical presentations on selected topics. May mentor new employees. Work assignments include cross-functional or project team responsibilities.

NOTE: Positions where the majority of time is spent auditing or tracking performance metrics, providing routine training or facilitation, coordinating training schedules, and/or collecting, maintaining and reporting progress or statistics, are non-exempt.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Engineering, Manufacturing, and experience which has provided both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field. Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through three or more years’ experience that has included utilizing CI principles, total quality and problem-solving tools.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of CI methods and implementation in varied business and/or manufacturing operations that include areas such as: productivity and quality measurements; lean manufacturing systems; flexible, world class manufacturing techniques; specific problem-solving tools and their application; familiarity with scheduling, material/planning and reporting systems. Ability to lead and implement CI projects and to select, deliver, and evaluate training. Ability to apply mathematical and analytical skills and to quantify results. Knowledge Offa standards and regulations, ATA standards, and other applicable federal or military regulations. Ability to work within general work objectives regarding projects and to establish ad hoc team project plans. Ability to train and communicate effectively with team members, customers, suppliers, project teams, and management. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and recommend actions. Ability to work on a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of the situation or data requires thorough identification of factors and analysis of impact. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret detailed technical procedures/manuals. Ability to respond to inquiries from team members, suppliers, and customers. Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal-setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.
