City Of New Orleans Juvenile Justice Center Maintenance and Custodian Supervisor in New Orleans, Louisiana

ind of Work

Professional, administrative and technical work directing the building, plant maintenance, custodial and repair programs of the New Orleans Juvenile Justice Youth Detention Home Center. An employee in this class supervises through subordinate supervisors, skilled andsemi-skilledworkers in performing a variety of building, mechanical maintenance and repair functions. Work includes planning, assigning, coordinating and reviewing the work ofmaintenance crews; preparing specifications for maintenance, repair and alteration contracts; and advising administrative superiors on building maintenance and construction projects. Work also includes oversight of repairs regarding cameras, intercoms, monitors and locks within the detention facility; and related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Original High School Diploma or G.E.D. issued by a state department of education.*
  2. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.*
  3. Four years of increasingly responsible experience in one or more of the following: general building maintenance for office and institutional buildings; mechanical plant equipment maintenance and repair for office and institutional buildings. At least two years of the qualifying experience must have been supervisory.

NOTE:Additional experience in the areas of building maintenance, electrical maintenance, mechanical maintenance or plumbing may substitute for the Bachelor's Degree at the rate of one (1) year of related experience equals one year of college credits.

If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.

This position requires a one (1) year probationary period.

NOTE:Pay above the minimum for superior qualifications may be granted under Civil Service Commission Rule IV Sec. 2.7 based on a review of the applicant pool, candidate's verified experience, education, and/or possession of related certifications.
