Our DuPont site in Newark, DE is looking for an Operations Lab Manager . This role is a single site business role providing technical leadership and optimizes the effectiveness of analytical resources to ensure cost-competitive analytical services are provided to support manufacturing operations. This role also serves as the people leader for 5-10 lab personnel across multiple labs on site.

Responsibilities:

Lab Routine Operation:

  • Serve as a role model for EH&S, share learning, and ensure follow-up on incident investigations.

  • Facilitate analytical requests, negotiate for resources, and direct work to the proper group

  • Monitor the progress of requests and address barriers

  • Leverage best practices and analytical applications across Analytical Technologies

  • Proactively communicate with business, function, and site roles on development of Service Level Agreements and analytical issues

Technical leadership:

  • Oversee and lead troubleshooting efforts on analytical tools as required.

  • Provide coaching to the team on lab data analysis techniques like measurement system analysis, control charting, etc.

  • Develop, implement and track progress of the Site Operations Analytical Strategy

  • Identify and communicate opportunities for new and improved analytical technology

  • Facilitate the identification of opportunities and implementation of improvements

  • Represent Analytical Technologies on multidisciplinary analytical projects.

  • Coordinate resources for analytical projects and activities.

People leadership:

  • Provide people leadership for analytical roles.

  • Lead or participate in capital planning for analytical equipment.

  • Facilitate alignment of people resources to business projects and monitor progress

  • Coach and mentor new team members and assist in recruiting.

  • Knowledge of and experience in wet chemistry, chromatography, microscopy, spectroscopy, mechanical testing, and surface characterization

Accountabilities:

  • Ensure EH&S is the top priority and performance is acceptable

  • Establish the Site Operations Analytical Strategy.

  • Provide technical expertise on analytical technology and capabilities to resolve raw material, process, product and analytical problems and identify opportunities for improved technology

  • Implement technology which adds value to the businesses

  • Build a People Centric Performance Culture

  • Optimize cost-competitiveness of analytical services

  • Ensure continual improvement in the labs

  • Ensure delivery of timely and accurate analytical results per the Sample Plan and Service Level Agreements

Qualifications :

  • B.Sc. or higher education in a chemistry related field.

  • 8(+) Years experience in a technical and/or plant related role.

  • Six Sigma training requirement: Green Belt Project Leader certification or Black Belt certification recommended
