Stanford Health Care Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner - Heart Transplant and LVAD Team PRN Relief Position in Palo Alto, California

Day - 12 Hour (United States of America)

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Heart Transplant and Left Ventricular Assist Device position is part of a collaborative team model of care consisting of Attending physicians, Fellows, and a team of NP/PAs who provide care for inpatient Heart Transplant and LVAD patients.

This is PRN/Relief role, offering two 12 hour shifts. The team is seeking someone to be able to cover 2 weekends per month and the occasional vacation coverage.

Essential Functions:

  • Consults, evaluates and treats Heart Transplant and LVAD patients in the immediate post-operative setting and serves as the primary readmitting service. Manages acute and chronic co-morbidities.

  • Obtains complete histories and performs pertinent physical exams with assessment of normal and abnormal findings.

  • Performs or requests and evaluates diagnostic studies

  • Administers, orders, furnishes and/or prescribes medications

  • Facilitates the coordination of inpatient and outpatient care and services

  • Provides and coordinates patient teaching and counseling

  • Works closely with multi-disciplinary team to coordinate patient throughput and discharge planning.

Job Qualifications:

Nurse Practitioner

Education: Master's or Doctorate Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university is, required.

License/Certification: BLS - Basic Life Support, required.

License/Certification: CA Registered Nurse (RN), required.

License/Certification: Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a nationally recognized nursing organization (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners-AANP, American Nurses Credentialing Center-ANCC, or any successor organizations), required.

License/Certification: DEA - DEA Number from the US Drug Enforcement Administration, required.

License/Certification: CA NP - Nurse Practitioner, required.

License/Certification: NPF - NP Furnishing Number, required.

Physician Assistant

Education: Bachelor's degree or above from an accredited college or university. Graduate of a PA program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc.

License/Certification: Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the State of California is required.

License/Certification: BLS - Basic Life Support, required.

License/Certification: DEA - DEA Number from the US Drug Enforcement Administration, required.

License/Certification: Must be board certified from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) at the time of hire and maintain certification during employment at SHC.

At least 1 year NP/PA experience.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $88.93 - $117.84 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
