Job Summary
The Dialysis Tech is responsible for providing direct care for assigned patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse according to established policies and procedures of Avera St Mary’s Hospital and the scope of practice of the Dialysis Tech.
The Dialysis Tech carries out other responsibilities as delegated by Unit Supervisor.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Completion of a SD Board of Nursing approved dialysis tech training program or equivalency determination from the SDBON if education is not SDBON approved and have evidence of passing a SDBON approved examination.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
SD Board of Nursing Registration and Certification as a Dialysis Technician with one of the three organizations listed below is required within 18 months of starting in the position, and must be maintained throughout employment:
Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) offered through Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC)
Board of Nephrology Examiners for Nursing and Technology (BONENT)
National Nephrology Certification Organization (NNCO) exam as a Certified Clinical Nephrology Technician (CCNT)
Registration with the SD Board of Nursing as a Unlicensed Dialysis Technician (UDT)
Basic Life Support (BLS) is required for all patient care staff within 3 months of hire.
Work Schedule
Varied Shifts; 72 hours every 2 weeks
Every other weekend
Every other holiday
10-hour shifts that may vary between 5:00 am - 8:30 pm
4 dys per week
Pay
The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
$18.50 - $25.75 per hour
