Mississippi Employer Take Off Position in Pontotoc, Mississippi

Hours:  7 am - 5 pm Friday 7 am 3 pm

Position: Take off position

 

Reports To: Shift Supervisor

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  1. General knowledge of operation of the line

  2. General knowledge of products produced on the line

  3. Mechanical aptitude

  4. Leadership skills

  5. Basic math skills, including the knowledge of reading a tape measure

Primary Duties:

 

The primary duties of the employee are (but not limited to) the following:

 

  1. Follow all safety rules and procedures including lock out tag out. Wear required PPE, safety glasses, and hearing protection etc.

  2. Be accessible to management personnel when line is down in getting the line up and running, even if you are on your break or lunch time.

  3. Control minimize waste and heavy/lites.

  4. Before beginning work each day, check to make sure all guards are in good repair ad in their proper locations.

  5. Check the production schedule for the products to be run.

  6. Get the spec sheet for the style that is to run.

  7. Install tips according to specs.

  8. Replace spray line filter screens, if necessary.

  9. Set up the blend line parameters; drop weight, fiber to hopper assignment, apron speeds, etc.

  10. Instruct the picker operator about the proper blend and any special operating instructions

  11. Set feed rolls, doffers, lapper, traverse, spray pump, oven temperature and line apron speeds according to the spec sheet.

  12. Understanding all aspects of the Rando operation including feed rolls, saber, carriage, filling hoppers, weber fan, magnehelic, and fiber saver.

  13. Understanding all aspects of needle loom operations including adjusting the bedplate, stripper plate, and stroke rate, needle board replacement, replacing needles, removing broken needles, and cleaning.

  14. Set Rando knife blades to maintain trim to the least amount possible.

  15. Keep fiber dragged out from underneath the garnets and place good fiber at the blendline for reuse.

  16. Pick ad clean fiber buildup from garnets, lappers, Rando and comb blades.

  17. Recognize when to shut off the line to minimize waste production whether it is changeover or mechanical problems.

  18. Monitor blendline and periodically verify the blendline drop weights.

  19. Monitor electric eye operation; blow off if necessary to maintain proper operation

  20. Monitor spray pattern, inlet and line pressures, pump operation, amount of over spray, hand, drying, color and pick up of add-on sprays (antimicrobials, flame retardants)

  21. Monitor laps and check for lap marks and overlap.

  22. Monitor oven conveyors for correct drafting.

  23. Drain and refill spray pans.

  24. Utilize and maintain the resin recycling system, including the float switch.

  25. Set up and monitor the wet tack system. Keep collection bucket for wet tack drain empty.

  26. Set up and main the Marsh/Patron printing system.

  27. Record any deviation of the spec set up and record on specification sheet.

  28. Get fiber bales when needed.

  29. Remove drags from the oven.

  30. Run oven screen, if needed.

  31. Perform timely quality checks per our quality plans, recognize quality problems, and adjust machines to ensure that borders are produced to specifications. Verify all quality checks with the weigher for accuracy. Check width, weight, loft, trim, hand, and color.

  32. Instruct the line crew as to what needs to be done utilizing all safety and good housekeeping policies.

  33. Make recommendations by notifying supervisor to correct problems that could hinder a machine's performance reduce output, or affect quality.

  34. Assist the Supervisor in ensuring production schedules are met and waste is kept to a minimum.

  35. Train the line operator trainee and communicate with supervision to their progress or lack of.

  36. Assume all supervisory duties in the absence of the Shift Supervisor and/or Plant Manager and submitting any and all r quired paperwork.

  37. Work on a continuous basis to improve their job skills and stay abreast of all changes in products and processes.

  38. Provide assistance I making repairs to the line.

  39. Keep a clean and orderly workplace.

  40. Perform other duties as assigned by department supervisor/lead person.

  41. Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities related to product, process and the system.

  42. Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process, and the quality system.

  43. Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.

  44. Verify the implementation of solutions.

  45. Control further processing, delivery, or installation of non-conforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.

  46. Participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement process
