Per Diem Surgical Physician Assistant - Vassar Brothers Medical Center (75 minutes north of New York City)

The Surgical PA Service at Vassar Brothers Medical Center is expanding its subspecialty care and service to include focused Urology based coverage. Vassar is seeking a per diem board-certified Physician Assistants to join its team focusing in Urology. We are a hospital-based group that offers a supportive and team-based environment. Responsibilities will include OR coverage includingcystoscopy with preoperative ureteral stent placement, as well as management of admissions, consults, floor rounds, post-op management and discharge of patients. This position is a great opportunity for growth and exposure to high acuity patients, and complex procedures.

1.OR First Assisting- Case coverage includes all Urology based procedures includingcystoscopy with preoperative ureteral stent placement, as well as DaVinci Robotic Surgery.

2.Rounding- PA’s will work in a team-based environment alongside other PA’s and NP’s to round on any in-house subspeciality including Urology patients.

1. Admissions/ Consults- PA will also assist other APP’s with admissions and consults for patients in the emergency department and on the inpatient floors.

2. Floor Procedures- PA’s will be responsible for floor procedures including difficult foley insertions.

This position is for four 11-hour shifts per week (6am-5pm).

Qualifications

·The qualified candidate will be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program and be NCCPA certified as well as possess strong surgical and patient management experience.

·Candidates with at least one to three years of surgical experience and/or surgical residency trained candidates preferred, but new graduates will be strongly considered.

Vassar Brothers Medical Center is a 365-bed facility that has served New York’s Mid-Hudson Valley since 1887.
