GENERAL SUMMARY

Staff position with the responsibility to lead and/or assist in special programs or projects based on department and station needs. Engineering Program Coordinator will facilitate performance improvement of assigned department’s personnel, program, processes, and management. Monitor department performance data, analyze and trend performance, evaluate and recommend solutions for performance deltas, plan and implement performance change, measure and evaluate performance improvement effectiveness, report department status. Reinforce and communicate performance improvement(s). Interface with all levels of management, staff, and regulators.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Lead and/or assist in special projects based on department and station needs. Department needs include basic near and long term strategic planning, department regulatory coordination, and budget compliance review and oversight. Comprehend and apply regulatory requirements as they relate to all functions within the Engineering Department. Special programs include, but are not limited to; oversight to the Engineering observation program. Additional responsibilities associated with the NRC Inspection and QA Audit preparation program.

Perform or provide oversight of casual analysis for human (and organizational) performance issues IAW SWP-CAP-02. Establish corrective actions that directly address the causal analysis data. Implement, monitor, and evaluate the effectiveness of corrective actions derived from causal analysis. Interview and document human performance issues. Communicate departmental “lessons learned” from analyzed errors and success. Additionally, perform causal analysis on good performance to identify and capture successful implementation practices. Lead and/or participate in department self-assessments and DCARBS. Review all department Apparent Cause resolutions and participate on department root cause evaluations.

Conduct briefings and educate department personnel on performance and develop recommendations for improved performance, based on trends and identification of significant improvement opportunities. This includes monitoring and assessment of data from the corrective action program, self-assessment program, observation program, internal and external operating experience (OE), performance indicators, the behavioral safety program, and external assessments. Provide management and staff with relevant assessment data in a timely manner. Compose department trend reports in accordance with SWP-CAP-07.

Evaluate department organizational processes and programs for effectiveness. Identify areas for improvement and plan, implement, and evaluate performance improvement changes. Assist department management in the facilitation of such changes, including communication, monitoring, and documentation of performance improvement initiatives. Using these results, effectively lead the Engineering Self-Assessment and Benchmarking programs to further enhance networking and measures for performance improvement internally and with industry peers.

Coordinate planning, tracking, and follow-up assignments for the Plant Health Committee.

Establish, promote, monitor, and evaluate the use of industry-standard error prevention tools/techniques at the management and workforce level. Support performance improvement through the use of Industry and Engineering Operating Experience (OE). Monitor the effectiveness of defense management processes and recommend adjustments as necessary. Monitor, communicate, and maintain error and event data for the department. Prepare department clock resets.

Provide cross-discipline assistance in the aforementioned areas and provide performance improvement consulting services to all members of the organization. Collaboratively work with other department peers and the Performance Improvement Program Manager on cross-cutting performance issues and initiatives.

Represent department performance concerns at CRC/TAGs to determine appropriate solutions and metrics for performance deltas developed through the department trend process. Prepare/schedule/coordinate semi-annual TAG meetings and Ad-Hoc TAG meetings as necessary.

Interface with Energy Northwest management and staff, INPO, NEI, and regulators as required regarding department performance and operating experience.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Requires a Bachelor’s degree and five years of technical/technical support experience in operations, maintenance, engineering, security, training, health physics, chemistry, technical project management or performance improvement within a highly regulated work environment. Two of the required years of experience must be at a professional level. Equivalency in the specified education and experience can be an Associate’s degree and seven years of experience OR a High School diploma/GED and nine years of experience.

Pay Range

$94,148.00 - $141,222.00 Annual

Midpoint:

$117,685.00

Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications.

Incentive Compensation

This role may be eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan. Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
