Join our team in our Richmond, VA office as we create new ways to tap into water’s vast potential. Stantec has an immediate need for a GIS Analyst in our Environmental Services group. Your Key Responsibilities

  • Perform data mining and data analysis to guide and support decision-making.

  • Perform complex GIS analyses with a variety of data formats including feature services, ArcSDE, shapefiles, Geodatabase, and imagery.

  • Assist in development of custom widgets and online applications within the Esri platform.

  • Expert utilization of the entire suite of ESRI GIS software including extensions (Network Analyst, Spatial Analyst, etc.) to perform high-level analysis to support various mapping projects and web-based applications

  • Assist in the development of memoranda and/or presentations for training and to communication of project information.

  • Conduct peer and quality reviews on all applicable projects.

  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Skill in geospatial data management and spatial analyses.

  • Skill in Python, JavaScript and other GIS programming languages

  • Skill in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Access).

  • Skill in technical writing and verbal communication.

  • Ability to present to small groups on wide range of projects.

  • Ability to work in a highly automated design office environment.

  • Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner, both in writing and in person, with clients, employees and visitors.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Must have a good driving record and valid driver’s license. Prior to employment with Stantec, the candidate will be required to successfully pass drug/alcohol screening.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science (minimum) in GIS, Environmental Science or other closely related degree required. Minimum of 3 years prior experience in a similar role required, 5 years is preferred. Or,

  • Masters Degree and 1 year of prior experience in a similar role required.

  • Prior experience in GIS and spatial analyses required.

  • ArcGIS Online, including Survey 123 and other App development experience preferred.

  • GISP certification preferred.

  • Experience supporting MS4 clients preferred.
