Parkhill, Smith & Cooper, Inc. Planner in Rio Rancho, New Mexico

PSC is seeking a Planner to joins itsPlanningStudio in Frisco, Texas. The position will focus on supporting our planning practice on planning projects including comprehensive plans and park and open space master plans. The position will also support our architectural practice on pre-design projects including facility master plans and feasibility studies, demographic studies, and facility condition assessments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work independently and in collaboration with architects, engineers, and other design professionals on a diverse range of design and planning projects in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • Work closely with professionals throughout firm in alltenoffice locations.
  • Provide research and analysis assistance across internal business sectors on an ad hoc basis.
  • High-level analytical, problem-solving skills and strategic-thinking capacity.
  • Ability to effectively present information and communicate findings.
  • Organize and participate in public hearings and community meetings.
  • Collect and warehouse data from internal and external clients as well as public sources.
  • Participate in field surveys and data collection including development of as-built drawings.
  • Coordinates the implementation and maintenance of tabular and geospatial databases.
  • Ability to connect complex data structures across multiple databases.
  • Extract demographic and other information from various databases for use in analysis, mapping, or reports.
  • Prepare graphics, data visualizations, reports and other documentation to support design, planning, and architectural design projects.
  • Develop specialized maps utilizing GIS software and deliver GIS-based mapping solutions including data acquisition, spatial analysis, and online mapping.
  • Prepare opinions of probable cost, including quantity take-offs for budgeting purposes and detailed estimates.
  • Analyze data to find patterns, relationships, and trends that help our clients make better decisions and support our designers through data-driven design.
  • Build advanced statistical models using regression, optimization, simulation, and spatial analytics to analyze complex problems in facility planning and design.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor or master's degree in Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or related discipline
  • Entry and mid-level candidates will be considered.
  • Registration and Certifications
  • No registration or certification is required. One or more of the following credentials are preferred:
  • AICP certification
  • GISP certification
  • LEED AP certification
  • Professional registration as an Architect or Landscape Architectin Texas

Software Proficiency

  • Proficiency in the following software is preferred: AutoCAD
  • Revit
  • Adobe Creative Suite
  • SketchUp
  • ArcGIS
  • Excel
  • Access
  • Business Intelligence software such as Qlik or Tableau
  • VBA knowledge and programming experience (run/maintain/write code)
