Intermountain Health Plant Mechanic in Riverton, Utah

Job Description:

Performs maintenance and repairs on all plant equipment including power, water, steam, medical air, vacuum pump and cogeneration engines. This position will provide maintenance assistance to the Hospital after hours, weekends and holidays.

Job Essentials

  1. Responsible for appropriate operation, cleaning, maintenance, and adjustments on all boilers, chillers, turbines and auxiliary equipment.

  2. Accountable for preventive maintenance on assigned equipment, including detailed and accurate documentation, in accordance with management?s defined standards.

  3. Performs corrective maintenance and repairs, including documentation, on assigned equipment to ensure equipment operates in a safe, timely, effective and efficient manner. Work orders are completed within management defined timeframes.

  4. Accountable for readings, inspections, maintenance and repairs of all critical equipment in the plant and other mechanical rooms as assigned. Installs equipment by reviewing prints and ordering materials according to current building codes to ensure safe and functioning systems.

  5. Accountable for clear and effective communication and follow through with staff at all levels regarding issues/concerns, to promote professional, knowledgeable resolutions.

  6. Properly prioritizes workloads and manages time effectively with minimal supervision. Responsible for accurate and timely submission of timekeeping documentation.

  7. Maintains an up to date knowledge of policies and procedures relative to the Engineering Department to ensure all work meets hospital standards and regulatory requirements. Attends department meetings and training as assigned.

  8. Performs other duties, which may include but is not limited to: On call duties, event investigation, cross training, proper maintenance of tools and workspace, etc. Maintains proper levels of parts and supplies.

  9. Maintains cleanliness of working area and assigned locations.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience in successfully working in loud, warm environments.

  • and -

Working knowledge of power plant, cogeneration, and steam plant functions and operations.

  • and -

Demonstrated ability to work night, weekend, holiday or rotating shifts as needed.

  • and -

Demonstrated the ability to trouble-shoot electrical, plumbing, HVAC and mechanical equipment and facilitate repairs.

  • and -

Skilled at reading and interpreting technical documentation and blue prints.

  • and -

Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision.

  • and -

Demonstrated the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and written.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience reading and correctly interpreting one line electrical drawings.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$27.13 - $41.28
