Objectives
The Mission Services Virtual Intern will develop an understanding of Goodwill Southeast Georgia as a social enterprise and the organization's mission, vision, and values. Through exposure to diverse leadership, the student will develop essential leadership skills and apply them through cross-functional collaboration, innovation, and project management with several Goodwill support teams.
Involve student leaders in substantive assignments to gain practical experience
Provide opportunities to develop and grow leadership skills operations
Expose student leaders to a range of activities comprising the overall work of the organization:
o Board leadership
o Executive leaders/Management
o Mission Advancement/Mission Delivery /Workforce Development/Marketing
Leadership
1:1 introduction and interview meeting with CEO
1:1 interview with each member of the executive team to learn about their role within the organization, style of leadership, and how what they do impacts Goodwill's mission.
Attend Board of Directors meeting
Attend an Executive Team meeting
Attend Senior Leadership meeting
Shadow CEO during 1:1 meeting with a Direct Report
Compile a summary report on what he/she learned from the interviews
Mission Advancement Support
Gain an understanding of the Opportunity Accelerator service delivery model
Leveraging our various learning and resource platforms, identify and categorize training modules that are aligned with our job seeker pathways- Establishing: Looking for a job; Exploring: Ready for a better job; Reinventing: Preparing for a career
Create a Learning Resources Directory file/document for the OC Specialists
Assist in developing Google Classrooms and Google Sites
Assist in developing Opportunity Accelerator delivery job aids & tools for the OC Specialists
Interview internal employees and Opportunity Center clients to capture success stories
Build a library of success stories that represent all demographics served and programs
Collaborate to create a storytelling campaign that includes communications and visuals that illustrate our impact
Researching Goodwill North Georgia’s portal and other Goodwill websites, make recommendations and assist to develop web-based portal content and design
Research and identify potential grant opportunities for specific programs
Mission Delivery Support
Shadow Career Specialists and/or Transformation Coaches during 1:1 meetings with clients and assist with developing Individual Employment Plans
Attend virtual hiring events, community partner meetings, training/workshops, and Team Meetings to support and gain practical experience in the daily operations of mission delivery
Work with Career Services Director and OC Specialist to identify volunteer needs for each of the centers and develop detailed volunteer job description for each
Observe training conducted by internal training teams and provide feedback on effectiveness, content, quality of delivery, engagement
Compile findings and recommendations for end-user training, present to leadership
Develop a Training Effectiveness survey for clients
Associate Engagement
Attend and participate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team meeting to gain an understanding of the importance of internal and external social issues
