We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Geologist  within our Gulf of Mexico group based in The Woodlands, TX.

 

 

 Essential Job Responsibilities:

 Seeking Geologist to join the GOM Exploration team responsible for geologic and geophysical interpretation, mapping, prospect generation, and regional geologic studies. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can integrate seamlessly into the current exploration organization. The candidate will focus on identifying and evaluating opportunities in deepwater clastics depositional environments that are within tie-back distance to existing facilities, and they need to be able to integrate Geology, Seismic, Petrophysics, Production data, and Economics into recompletion/drill ready recommendations while working across a multidisciplinary team (Reservoir Engineering, Drilling, Completions, Production, and Land).

 

Work in a multidisciplinary team to enhance existing and generate new resources surrounding existing platforms

 

Mapping:

§  Experience using Landmark/Openworks, Decisions Space and/or Petrel.

§  Willingness to learn or experience in 2d & 3D seismic interpretation in both high-density and sparse data environments.

§  Conventional deepwater exploration interpretation from basin, play, prospect, and field levels.

§  Integrate 2D/3D seismic data, well log analysis, offset analog well and production data, and various other types of subsurface data into maps, cross sections, and models.  Typical subsurface maps are structure, isopach, reservoir property distribution, net pay maps, and probability maps. 

§  Review farm-in opportunities and make business justification based on maps

Prospect Analysis, Evaluation and Execution:

§  Utilize subsurface maps/models to define resource ranges, risk, and prepare technical documents.

§  Utilize Rose RA/MMRA risking prospects.

§  Monitor active and competitor drilling operations.

§  Work closely with internal groups and external partners to define optimal well locations and exploration development plans, taking into consideration subsurface hazards and chance of success.

§  Work with function SME’s to integrate pore pressure, geochemical and basin modelling, salt tectonics, and seismic data quality.

§  Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently and meet critical deadlines.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

    • Masters or PhD with 5 years of experience required
    • Ability to mentor and onboard early career.
    • Ability to integrate and synthesize multiple data types - seismic, petrophysics, rock and geochemical analysis, production data – and synthesize into comprehensive geologic maps utilizing strong, fundamental mapping techniques in diverse play types.
    • Collaborate and work closely with multi-discipline development teams and functional subject matter experts.
    • Creative thinker, ability to collaborate, effectively communicate, and influence others.
    • Experience with clastic and deepwater depositional systems
    • Offshore Deepwater interpretation and operations experience
