[The Coordinator of Academic Advising leads and supervises College Academic Advisors. The coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the Academic Advisors are delivering excellent and relevant academic advisement, information, and services to technical college students. MAJOR DUTIES

Supervises Academic Advisors and leads academic advising, retention, and programming efforts.

Serve as an academic advisor to students seeking admission into Allied Health Programs.

Effectively communicate and engage with advisees each semester to ensure students understand ranking criteria and stay on track for Competitive Ranking.

Assists students in developing and personalizing an education plan.

Disseminates information on institutional policies and procedures.

Reviews and interprets placement and other standardized test scores, unofficial transcripts, and course prerequisites.

Understands the institution's interpretation of FERPA rules for the release of student information to faculty, parents, students, etc.

Interprets degree audits.

Understands graduation requirements for programs.

Monitors student registration activities and recommends solutions to academic difficulties.

Maintains accurate electronic records of interactions with students

Serves as student advocate when appropriate.

Refers students to the appropriate specialized staff for such issues as financial aid assistance, career advisement, admissions processes, business office questions.

Participates in the development, implementation, review, presentation, and revision of orientations for the first-time college students and transfer students.

Stays abreast of changing institutional information including admissions requirements, new programs, course changes, deadlines, important dates, costs, expanding facilities, updates in college-wide initiatives, transfer requirements, and state and federal mandates.

Advise students not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress and work with TEAMS Coordinator to develop a personalized plan to meet Academic and personal goals.

Develop special programming as it relates to New Student Registration and Advisement to promote Student Retention and Student Success in collaboration with the Office of Admissions, Student Support Services, academic deans, and faculty.

Coordinate with Coordinator of Marketing to launch a student registration promotion to encourage current students to register early in the registration cycle.

Coordinate with program faculty and deans to ensure webpage for academic programs with accurate information including program descriptions and guided pathways.

Serve on various College committees related to student retention/success.

In conjunction with the Coordinator of Marketing and Executive Director of Student Affairs to develop communications such as email blasts,

web banners and/or social media presence for the advisement.
