Performs a variety of diagnostic ultrasound procedures. Maintains necessary equipment, supplies, and records for these procedures.

Job Description:

Education and Experience Required

-Graduate of accredited radiology technology program

-At least one year experience with ultrasound procedure

License and Certifications Required

-ARDMS registered or eligible

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Obtains relevant information about the patients and assesses patient needs prior to beginning the exam.

  • Confirms that clinical indication for the exam is appropriate to exam requested.

  • Consults with referring physician or radiologist, when necessary, to obtain information prior to beginning exam.

  • Explains procedure and provides patient with gowning instructions.

  • Answers patient questions and provides support.

  • Documents test results per practice protocols. Communicates test results or changes in patient condition to referring physician.

  • Maintains clean, organized and well stocked procedure room, communicates restocking to individual responsible for restocking.

  • Recognizes and acts to correct equipment problems or situations adversely affecting validity of test results.
