The Pioneer Central School District is seeking qualified candidates for the following anticipated positions:

School Counselor (11 months) - 1 position high school

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED

• Valid NYS certificate in the area of School Counselor

• Knowledge of comprehensive School Counseling Program of development, preventive, remedial and responsive services

• Strong counselor competencies to address academic, career and personal/social development of students including the planning, implementation & monitoring of individual and group counseling services for varied disability classifications (learning disability, Autism, emotional and intellectual disabilities)

• Creating and monitoring student behavior intervention and individual support plans within a multi-disciplinary team that includes: student, parents, teachers and related service providers.

• Individual student goal writing and tracking through special education school management system.

• Ability to focus on the goal of improving student achievement, provide the necessary behavioral support to students and create the changes necessary to impact school climate.

• Unending advocate that will promote, assess and implement the Comprehensive Pre-K - 12 School Counseling Plan.

• Experience with disaggregated data to drive program and activity development to meet the needs of all students and close the achievement gap. In-particular, through a results-based and standards-based model, impact daily activities to include:

• Counseling

• Coordination

• Consultation

• Advocacy

• Teaming and Collaboration

• Ability to function as a part of team that includes leadership, advocacy and collaboration

• Familiarity with counseling practices and services aligned with the American School Counseling Association (ASCA), the ASCA National Model and the expectations of the New York State Education Department

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide in-school modeling of counseling services and student supports

Additional Job Information

Additions to base salary include:

$4,200 for certification as a counselor + $2,450 for working 8 hours and 10 minutes (inclusive of lunch) per day for 115 school days.

A stipend of $2,800 can be earned for in-service professional development.
