Description:

Handles the complete packaging development process, including the creation of packaging designs, prototype development, and performance testing

Fixes new and existing packaging problems involving designs, materials, processes and provides creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions

Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications of product to resolve physical characteristics of item, special handling, environmental and safety requirements, and types of materials required for packaging

Establishes standards and guidelines for supplier evaluation. Evaluates and selects packaging suppliers / vendors; periodically conducts vendor reviews

Handles multiple projects simultaneously

Works closely with global suppliers, engineering, product management, operations, and sourcing

Participates in product introduction teams to deliver new products to market

This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis. The Packaging Engineer designs, tests, and implements packaging designs that are an integral part of the Automotive Aftermarket Product Development process, keeping material cost, densification, sustainability, throughput, and damage reduction in mind to name a few critical considerations. Further, he or she reviews and improves existing packaging designs.
